WEBP to PNG Converter
Convert a WEBP image to a lossless PNG that every editor, viewer and platform can open — with transparency fully preserved. Upload your file below and the PNG is ready in seconds.
This is the right conversion when you need to edit a WEBP in software that doesn't support it, or when a form or system only accepts PNG uploads.
How the WEBP to PNG conversion works
Filembly decodes the WEBP and re-encodes the pixels as a lossless PNG. The alpha channel carries over exactly, so logos and cut-out images keep their transparent backgrounds. From this point on the image can be edited and re-saved without any further quality loss.
How to convert WEBP to PNG
- Upload your .webp file above.
- Confirm PNG as the destination format.
- Click Convert.
- Download your lossless PNG.
Limitations to know about
- PNG files are larger than WEBP — that's the trade-off for lossless, universally compatible output.
- If the WEBP was saved with lossy compression, PNG preserves it exactly as-is; it cannot reconstruct detail the WEBP encoder discarded.
- Animated WEBP files convert from their first frame only.
Privacy and security
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted entirely in memory and streamed straight back to your browser. It is never written to disk, never logged and never retained after the conversion — there is nothing to delete because nothing is stored. Files are validated by extension, type and content signature, and uploads are never executed. Read more in our privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
Is WEBP to PNG conversion lossless?
The conversion step itself is lossless — every pixel of the decoded WEBP is stored exactly in the PNG, including transparency. Note that if the source WEBP used lossy compression, the PNG faithfully preserves that already-compressed image.
Should I convert to PNG or JPG?
Choose PNG when the image has transparency, sharp text or flat graphics, or when you plan to edit it further. Choose JPG when it's a photograph and file size matters more than perfect fidelity.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the WEBP?
WEBP is a modern compressed format; PNG stores pixels losslessly with older compression. A 100 KB WEBP photo can easily become a 1 MB PNG. That's normal and expected.
