This is what you need when a 60-page report contains the three pages someone actually asked for, or when a scanned bundle has to be broken into separate documents.
How it works
You describe the pages you want in ordinary notation — single pages, ranges, or a mix such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. Filembly copies exactly those pages, in the order you wrote them, into a fresh PDF.
Page numbers are validated against the real document before anything is produced, so asking for page 40 of a 12-page file returns a precise message rather than a silently truncated result.
How to extract pages
- Upload the PDF you want to split.
- Type the pages you want to keep. Use commas for separate pages and a hyphen for a run of them — 1-3, 5 keeps pages one, two, three and five.
- Check the line underneath, which confirms exactly how many pages you will get.
- Click Extract pages and download your new PDF.
Limitations to know about
- You get a single PDF containing the pages you chose — not a ZIP of separate one-page files. To produce several documents, run the tool once per group of pages.
- Bookmarks, form fields and annotations are not carried across.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened and return a clear error.
Privacy and security
Your files are uploaded over HTTPS, processed entirely in memory and streamed straight back to your browser. They are never written to disk, never logged and never retained after the response — there is nothing to delete because nothing is stored. Frequently asked questions
How do I write the page range?
Use page numbers as you see them in your PDF reader, starting at 1. Separate entries with commas and use a hyphen for ranges: 1-3, 5, 8-10 extracts pages one through three, page five, and pages eight through ten.
Can I reorder pages while extracting?
Yes. Pages come out in the order you list them, so typing 5, 1-2 produces a document with page five first. Listing the same page twice is ignored — each page appears once.
How do I split a PDF into separate single files?
Run the tool once per page or range you need — enter 1 and download, then enter 2 and download, and so on. Each run produces an independent PDF.
Is the extracted PDF smaller than the original?
Usually yes, since it contains fewer pages. Shared resources such as embedded fonts still travel with the pages that use them, so the saving is not always exactly proportional to the page count.
