How the PNG to PDF conversion works
Filembly places your PNG on an A4 page, centred inside a small margin, choosing portrait or landscape to match the image's shape. Images are scaled down to fit when needed but never enlarged, so they stay sharp.
The image is stored in the PDF losslessly, and transparency is kept: transparent areas show the white page behind them. Metadata embedded in the PNG is removed.

Limitations to know about
- One PNG becomes one PDF page. To combine several images into a single PDF, use the Image to PDF tool.
- Each file can be up to 4 MB.
- The PDF contains the image as a picture, so any text in a screenshot can't be selected or searched. OCR is not currently supported.
- Lossless PNGs of photos can make large PDFs. For photographs, converting to JPG first gives a much smaller PDF.
Privacy and security
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted entirely in memory and streamed straight back to your browser. It is never written to disk, never logged and never retained after the conversion — there is nothing to delete because nothing is stored. What happens to transparent backgrounds?
